Voice Recognition technology for Seniors Aging in Place

Event Type: Computers & Smart Technology
Age Group(s): Seniors, Adult
Date: 4/16/2019
Start Time: 1:30 PM
End Time: 2:30 PM
Description:
Paul Burden, Founder of Our Voice, a partner of The Columbia Lighthouse for the Blind, will demonstrate how useful Alexa and other voice recognition devices can be for seniors aging in place, as well as discuss assessing security systems like Nest.

For example, with Alexa, there’s no complicated software to learn, no keyboard, and no need to worry about updates. Using voice only, seniors can:
Get News and Information
Use Alexa as a telephone; place and receive phone calls
Have books read to them
Do their shopping
Listen to their favorite music and radio stations
Send and receive text messages
Do Internet Searches
Alert Family & Friends if in distress
And, much more…
