Most people are familiar with the terms “introvert-extrovert” and “archetype”. But do they know what Jung really meant by these concepts and how they fit into his over-all theory of the human personality? There is much more to Jung’s Analytic Psychology to explore than the surface understanding offered by these terms. With some brief references to current neuroscience, we will look at seven key Jungian notions and, in some instances, try to bridge the almost 90-year gap between Jung’s original formulations and today’s scientific knowledge. We will also touch on his relationship with Sigmund Freud and the rumors of his anti-Semitism.
