Joel Stone, Senior Curator of the Dossin Great Lakes Museum is our special presentor. The Detroit River has served as the primary artery for vessels traveling through the heart of the Great Lakes for over 400 years. Maritime commerce utilizing the river has been essential to the development, growth and legacy of Detroit & the region. The river has been a recreational, commerical and industrial resource. The headwaters of the Rouge River originate in Novi and flow to the Detroit River. As part of the international border and as a regional resource, the Detroit River certrainly affects us here in Novi.
