First of three films in a series: Isaac Pope: The Spirit of an American Century: a 100-year-old, magnificent, unsung hero of WWII, civil rights, and labor activism takes us right into history. Meet the award-winning filmmaker, Paula Caplan, who will lead a discussion and answer questions after the film. Two other films are scheduled: Oct. 14, Service: When Women Come Marching Home, and Nov. 4, Is Anybody Listening? This series of films and discussions with the filmmaker, NAACP officials, and veterans, is free and open to the public. Sponsored by Friends of the Library, Rockville Memorial Chapter.

The Rockville Science Center: Coder Dojo

Are you a young person 7 to 17 who is interested in learning to program? Learn to code, build a website, create an app or a game, and explore technology in an informal, creative, and social environment. The Coder Dojo DC is a local chapter of a global network of free, volunteer-led, community-based programming clubs for young people. Workshops are held every two weeks barring holidays or interruptions. ***An adult guardian must stay with children 12 and under, but all parents are strongly encouraged to stay and participate.***
