Event Type: Special Event

Date: 5/12/2018
Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Time: 4:00 PM
Description:
Long time ago, before any formal education was introduced, our grandmothers, grandfathers and ancestors educated us through an informal form of education know as “folktales”. These stories inspired, motivated and taught the importance of good behaviors versus bad behavior. Life, love and light came alive through these stories. The metaphors well narrated through the use of the animal kingdom are lessons that are applied to human beings.
Anna Mwalagho aka “Mama Femi” brings these stories alive through music, dance, games, and drumming. Enjoy forty-five minutes to an hour of fun activities through stories, music, dance games, and learning some Kiswahili words. Be inspired to use your creative mind just like the children of Africa. Performed by Anna Mwalagho.
This program is part of the 2018 NEA Big Read in Montgomery County.
