|Artifacts: A Creative Writing Workshop|
Event Type: BUBBLER (staff - do not use!)|
Age Group(s): Adult
Start Time: 3:00 PM
End Time: 4:30 PM
Open a photo album of a family you’ve never met. There is no one to explain to you who these people are. A few pictures have dates, names and locations, but the rest are blank. In one, a man on a tractor tips his hat. In another, a little boy in a diaper cries in front of a cake. In yet another, an aproned woman cooks food over a fire by a lake.Library: Central Library
What holds the past together when it disappears? This workshop challenges writers to build stories from found objects, including photographs and newspaper clippings. What we are after is not biography or historical realism, but an understanding that the past can be as great a tool for creative output as our imaginations.
