This is a mandatory training for new volunteers who wish to be One to One tutors in the Adult Literacy Program (ALP) for ESL, Basic Literacy, or GED preparation or Practice Your English facilitators. Once matched with a student, One to One tutors are asked to commit to meeting their student for a minimum of one hour per week for a minimum of six months. Practice Your English facilitators are asked to sign up for one or two hours (Saturday mornings) per month. The Adult Literacy Program serves adults over 17 years old from all different linguistic and cultural and educational backgrounds. Volunteers with a background in working with people with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Volunteers are also expected to register on Volunteer Connect.
