Join us for a 40-minute documentary and discussion about Josiah Henson. He rescued 118 enslaved people. He raised millions for the abolitionist cause. He helped start a freeman settlement, called Dawn, that was known as one of the final stops on the Underground Railroad. He was one of the inspirations for Harriet Beecher Stowe's Uncle Tom's Cabin, the novel that Abraham Lincoln jokingly blamed for starting the Civil War. And before all this, Josiah Henson was brutally enslaved for more than forty years. Come see his story. We’ll discuss what his life’s story means for us today when considering race in our community.
